THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SIGNAGE

A well-designed wayfinding strategy delivers clear and concise messaging at key locations along the trail. At the start, a primary marker can display essential information such as the trail name, a “You Are Here” identification, a list of trails leading from the starting point, directional arrows, and relevant pictograms. Colour-coordinated signage can be used to differentiate multiple trails, enhancing navigation.

At decision points along the trail, markers provide guidance on trail direction and distances to key locations such as access points or landmarks. Additional signage can include details on the level of difficulty of the track, environmental information about the local plant life, and insights into the wildlife that inhabits the area. In certain cases, a trail map can be incorporated to provide broader location context, ensuring users have all the necessary information for a safe and enjoyable experience.
